Victory = Faith
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world;
and this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.”
1 John 5:4
We are to live by faith, not by feel! God says it, I believe it. Period. I believe God’s word and will choose my behavior to live according to it. Even if…I doubt…I don’t understand…it seems crazy!…others will think I am crazy!…it’s not easy…it’s inconvenient…it goes against the world’s counsel…. I will live by faith in the One who Created, Who loved, Who sacrificed, Who gives mercy and grace, Who is eternal, Who knows me, Who loves me, Who surrounds me, Who wants what is best for my eternity.
Faith. The substance or assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Faith motivates the spirit world. We can’t see the angels fighting for us or protecting us. We can’t always see God’s answer to our prayers. But by faith, we believe. What are you hoping for? Worldly comfort, money, career, relationships? Or a closer walk with God, purity, a testimony, or wisdom? What are you putting your faith in? Or rather Who are you putting your faith in?
God’s word promises us victory, eternity, blessings, etc… Hope on these things. Use the other things to accomplish what God has called you to by all means, but hope only in God. Put your faith not in the fact that God will only make good things happen, but rather that God loves you and will allow the circumstances of your life to happen to draw you to Him and to prepare your character for your eternal occupation in heaven. Charles Spurgeon said, “When you can’t see God’s hand, trust His heart.” To do this, you must know God’s heart. Read the Word – know God. Psalm 139 is a great place to start.
May you be an overcomer today. May you know victory in your spiritual life and in your daily happenings. May your faith grow strong in the One Who Is.
