Conviction or Condemnation?

“Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God…”

1 John 3:21

This world will condemn us. Satan will condemn us.  Others will condemn us.  But “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

We do have the Holy Spirit within us and He will convict us of sin – sinful thoughts and actions. But conviction comes on the heels of sin.  Condemnation comes at us because we are different from the world.  “Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you.” 1 John 3:13

If you are walking in and abiding in God, Jesus, the word, and truth but condemnation still comes at you, then you can stand before God knowing that your conscience is clear. The condemnation is coming from the world of our enemy because they cannot understand, do not understand, and don’t want to understand.  We are to be different – set apart, “holy” – aliens.  Shame on us if we do look like the world!

Live as unto God and don’t worry about what the world says. It is passing away, but the word of God stands forever!
