Hope in the Great Shepherd
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil. For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:4
So you see hope? No matter what life or death throws at you, Dear One, you have no reason to fear. “Greater is He who is in you, than He that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4). Life is hard. You may face defeat, discouragement, betrayal, loss of job, loss of a loved one, etc… but Jesus is with you through it all. Our hope is in Him not in our circumstances or in other people. Look only to Jesus.
The Shepherd’s rod and staff had two uses – one defensive and the other offensive. With the rod He beats back the enemy. With His staff, He rescues the wayward or fallen sheep. Luke 15 talks about how the shepherd treats the lost lamb. “When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing!” Draw comfort in your Saviors arms. He is watching over you, guiding you, protecting you, drawing you to Himself. In Him there is hope.
