The Role of This Flesh

|

“I am crucified with Christ therefore I no longer live,
but Jesus Christ now lives in me;
and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
Galatians 2:20

In this verse the flesh is really the flesh – this earthly body. This life lived in this earthly body must be lived through faith in Christ Jesus. Not in law and rules and regulations or personal ambition or personal goals, but in faith in Christ – faith that He will direct and guide and provide the opportunities that He desires for me for my growth and for His kingdom. Whether your earthly flesh is strong or weak Jesus will “equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in ys that which is pleasing in His sight.” (Hebrews 13:21)

The work of the flesh of a Christian is to be diligent in all that God calls us to do knowing that He will provide everything we need to accomplish such tasks. In other words: obedience. Obedience in to the Word of God and to the Holy Spirit working in us.
