“I will bless the Lord who has counseled me;
Indeed, my mind instructs me in the night.
I have set the Lord continually before me;
Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will dwell securely.
…In your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”
Notice the cause and effect. If I put God continually before me, then I am glad, rejoice, dwell securely, and find joy. Psalm 1 says, “Blessed is the man…[whose] delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” If you are missing out on the joy of the Lord, try spending time with Him through the word and through prayer. Make it a priority. Meditate (think) upon the words of God and apply them. Allow yourself to dwell upon the goodness of God as you go to sleep. He will give you counsel even as you sleep!
Nothing has to shake you – not sickness or pain, or relationships, or the future, or fear, or failed attempts, or money issues, or changes. These all can be put under the Lordship of Jesus. You can trust Him, stand on His promises, and stand firm. Know God and know His faithfulness and love and you will not be shaken!
