Truth is…

”…I was very glad to find some of your children walking in truth…”
2 John !:4

What is this truth? “…for the sake of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever.” (2 John 1:2) “Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life…” (John 14:6) So first we see that truth is the person of Jesus. Jesus is God and all that God is, so truth is the very character of God.

Truth also contains the eternal facts of the Scriptures. The gospel, the promises, the prophecies, etc….

But truth is more than even this. Truth is what God feels about you. It is His great love and acceptance of you. It is God’s grace and mercy. Truth is the foundation of God’s throne (Psalm 89:14). It also has to be the foundation of a Christian’s life. The world and Satan have plenty to offer, but it is false and will not last through the fire of death and resurrection.

Wisdom and truth are very tightly related. Jesus is the personification of wisdom, which is action based on God’s truth. Do you want to be wise? Seek the Scriptures. Do you want to know truth. Seek Jesus.
