Lessons on Prayer – His Power
“I am the Lord, and there is no other;
Besides Me there is no God.
I will gird you, though you have not known Me;
That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun
That there is no one besides Me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other,
The One forming light and creating darkness,
Causing well-being and creating calamity;
I am the Lord who does all these.
Isaiah 45:5-7
Prayer allows us to come into the presence of the Almighty God and Creator! What power He possesses. What joy He brings forth. What peace in the midst. When you have been in His presence, then you realize that no circumstance on earth can overcome His will and His desire. And His desire for you is love and growth in purity and holiness. Prayer, then, is entering into the presence of God. “When such communion becomes real, prayer ceases to be mere duty and becomes delight. All sense of obligation is lost in privilege. Love seeks the company of its object, simply for the sake of being in the presence of the beloved one; as one little fellow explained his quietly coming into his father’s study by the hunger for his presence – ‘just to be with you, papa.’” – Arthur Pierson
When was the last time that you prayed just to be near God? It helps to visualize yourself before His throne, or on His lap, or dancing or bowing before Him. He is your “Papa”, so it’s okay to see yourself walking with Him and talking with Him. He loves you and delights in you. (Ps. 37:23).
