“But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. do no be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:31-32
What are you seeking? Wealth, popularity, companionship, joy? God’s Word says that if we seek Him first, these other things will be ours. I am not preaching a gospel of name it and claim it or of wealth and prosperity. I am preaching God’s Word which says that He will meet our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.(Phil. 4:19). This may not mean monetary wealth, but it does mean that God knows what we need and will provide it just as a shepherd provides water, food, shelter, and protection for his sheep.
Often what we want is not what we need. Our Father knows what we need. Sometimes that is blessings and encouragement. At other times, it is discipline or pruning. We must keep an eternal perspective. God is grooming us for eternity and knows what character traits He must teach us to accomplish His will. It may be deeper trust through disease or hardships. It may be greater dependence through famine or financial difficulties. It may be rest through circumstances that overwhelm our souls. But He is always with us and will provide for our needs. One day we will judge angels and rule over nations.
Our tender Shepherd, our gracious Father is preparing us for our eternal situation. He is concerned about our now as well and promises that if we truly seek Him, His provision will be glorious! Finding contentment through praise and thanksgiving will help you realize how much you have been blessed. Clothed like the flowers of the field?Ooh yes! You should see my closet! Fed like the ravens? I haven’t missed a meal, and my pantry is full! Worrying about others and situations? No, I can’t change them; I have to let God be in control and rest in him.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” (P
