Teach and Learn
“All your sons will be taught of the Lord;
And the well-being of your sons will be great.”
Isaiah 54:13
What a great promise! I love the promises of God! I was reading in 2 Samuel this morning about Solomon’s prayer and God’s promise to bless him and his kingdom, since he asked for wisdom rather than riches. The condition was that Solomon “…walk in My statues and commandments, as your father David walked, then I will prolong you day.” (2 Samuel 3:14). In other words, do as I am teaching you, grow in wisdom, and I will bless you.
You my sons, (and my friends who are reading this) have been taught of the Lord. Go and teach your sons and daughters that their well-being will be great as well. If you talk to a non-believer or a Christian who is not walking in the ways of God, you will find one whose well- being is not good. They are angry, confused, chaotic, depressed, unsatisfied, discontented, and reaping the consequences of ungodly behavior. This does not have to be your lot in life. You know truth. Live in it and grow in it. God is faithful and will bring about your well-being. You will find peace, joy, and love in the midst of your circumstances. You will be given direction and guidance.
Success in life is not money, prestige, position, friends, or even a national presence. Success is following God’s ways that you have been taught and teaching them to your children. “…and make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you, so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need.” (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12).
