Prayer is Abiding

“Abide in Me, and I in you.

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself

unless it abides in the vine,

so neither can you unless you abide in Me.”

John 15:4

How do you abide? “Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Put on an attitude of prayer, a realization that you are in the presence of God at all times. Throw your thoughts upwards. Call on God when you are upset or confused. Praise Him for all thngs. Walk along with God throughout your day.

The fruit of the spirit that we are trying to cultivate is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Who doesn’t want these juicy and fulfilling morsels? We can grow these fruits only by putting our roots deep into God’s word and by staying connected to Him through conversation and communion.

May you abide in Christ Jesus this day, aware of His presence and filled with His joy and peace. You are deeply loved.
