HOPE
“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13
I was challenged to choose a word of the year to dwell on for 2016 and to make it part of my character. I chose HOPE. It has been a really bad 6 months, but I live with a tangible hope in Christ. He is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do. My accepted Jesus a week before she passed away. I have a certain hope that she is in heaven. I hope in God that other family members will come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord. I hope for continued healing in my own heart and soul.
This is not a fatalistic hope. No, this is a hope based upon the promises of an eternal, almighty God. It is hope based upon God’s character. It is hope in a relationship that I have experienced with a Father God who will do all things for our good. This hope clings to the Word of God, even when I don’t feel its truth. It is hope in absolute truth spoken by a God who is Truth. “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.” It is not based on ethereal dreams, blind faith, or personal pride. It is Christ alone.
