What Really Happened at the Cross?

“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 8:1

That’s right! Wiped clean. No more shame. No punishment. No indictment. Innocent. Set free.

When we come to Jesus and repent of our sins and ask Him to be in charge of our life, He comes in and makes us a new creation! (2 Corinthians 5:17). This new creation is no longer held responsible for what the old creation did. Yeah!!! And even better, as a new creation, when we fall and sin again, all we have to do is repent, and we are reprogrammed back to the moment of our salvation – new again!

David knew God, had witnessed God’s amazing presence in his life, and had seen God’s hand protect and provide for him in the wilderness as he ran from Saul. But David sinned; he committed adultery and then murder. Can God forgive and wipe the slate clean for one such as this? Yes!!! Psalm 51 is David’s cry to God for repentance and a clean heart. “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit.” (Psalm 51:12). David is called “a man after God’s own heart.” He was declared innocent because of his faith in God.

We too, can be forgiven much, for upon the cross Jesus shed all of His blood for me and for you. It took all of His blood as a sacrifice to cover my sins and to allow me to be born again in Him. Thank you Jesus for your great cleansing work upon the cross.
