Heart Attack: Surgery

| | |

Burned out, stressed out, and not experiencing the abundant life? Your spiritual heart attack may require surgery. Take your flesh heart to Jesus and let Him remove the callouses that are keeping you from fruitful fulfillment in life. Unfeeling. Uncaring. Apathetic. Content to lie around and just be left alone. That pretty much describes a stone and a heart of stone as seen in Ezekiel 36:26 where God promises, “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you;and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

Salvation was a spiritual surgery. God placed within you a new heart of flesh – a heart that is able to feel, to be compassionate, to love, to empathize. Sometimes though, it might seem as if your heart of flesh has returned to its state of stone.

Flesh hearts can’t thrive in an environment of sin, of fatalism, or of overindulgence in the world’s culture through television, movies, music, etc… Flesh hearts need daily interaction with the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and Father God through praise, prayer, and preparation (Bible study). So if your heart feels like a heavy weight within you, start at the cross. Lay aside your encumbrances (weights) and your sins (Hebrews 12:1). “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any, two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Heb. 4:12).

Petrified wood from the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona cannot produce fruit, be made into paper or lumber, or give shelter to animals. It is stone. It is not useful, not changing, just lying there.
