God Answers Prayer

Have you ever wondered if God really answers prayer? Have you sought an answer, but God seemed to be silent? Or you asked, and the answer was no? Did God quit caring for you? God answers prayer. Look at this example form Exodus. “So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” Exodus 2:24 God does answer prayer. Think about it: God heard the Israelites over in Goshen, Egypt, and prepared Moses in Midian, several hundred miles to the west, to lead them out of slavery. The next chapter is the burning bush call... Read More

Gentle and Quiet Heart

I strove for years to have that gentle and quiet heart and spirit that 1 Peter 3:4 speaks of when he says, “Your adornment must…be….the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.” Even though I didn’t talk until I was 5 years old, my Dad was fond of saying, “She hasn’t shut up since!” I don’t need a microphone on the ball field or in a gymnasium. I love laughter, conversation, friendship, and shouting out loud praises to my God.  When I sing, I... Read More

Not to Worry

Worry.  There is a lot of things out there to worry about!  House closings, babies coming, financial needs, business endeavors, relationships, etc…  I want you to know that at one time I was one of the world’s best worriers!  I worried about it all!  But then, God began to show me that worry is not of Him.  He wants us to rest and trust.  If circumstances don’t turn out the way that we want them to, then we still trust because God has our back!  He knows what is best for us and, I believe that when we get to... Hope in Midst of Persecution

Hope in midst of persecution. There is hope of better things to come. “Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions, and in the age to come, eternal life.” Mark 10:29-30 But our hope can’t be placed on gaining the things mentioned in Mark... “Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth?  I tell you, no, but rather division; for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.”  Luke 12:51-52 “…And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7 “Peace on earth, good will towards men” is our hearts’ desire.  But Jesus made it clear that this will not occur until after His second coming.  We can work together for world peace; we may eliminate aids and cancer, but... Joy and Jesus

“These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.” John 15:11 Joy.  What is it?  Are we meant to experience it?  Does it depend upon our circumstances?  Our relationship to God? The favorite Christmas song “Joy to the World” announces joy at the coming of Jesus.  That is our first clue.  Joy comes when Jesus comes.  Throughout Scripture I am finding joy coupled with salvation.  Joy is in the presence of the Lord.  John writes that Jesus said that if we keep His commandments and abide... God or His Gifts?

Christmas is coming. Have you made your wish list? Are you excited about getting gifts or spending time with family and loved ones? Do you desire you husband’s gifts or your husband?  Do you desire God or His Gifts? Do you enjoy sitting in His lap or just desiring that He makes your life easier? Boy, that question has caught me a couple of times! This goes along with my last post of yielding.  Am I seeking God for a relationship – the good, the bad, and the ugly (in my limited scope), or am I seeking a holy Santa Claus that will... Yield, Surrender

Yield, surrender, give up the right. That’s a hard concept.  I know what I want. But what if it is not what God wants? I have to yield up my desires to God for what He knows is best for myself, my children, my husband, and my friends even if what is best for them is heartache and struggles. God is more concerned about our character and reliance on Him than our circumstances. I prefer to focus on the circumstances and beg God to get me out of them! I have a choice.  I can manipulate the circumstances.  I can and will pound the gates... Read More

Losing Faith? Remember!

When we find ourselves questioning God’s activity in our lives or His great love for us, we need to remember. It is important to remember God’s goodness, His salvation, His works in the Bible, and his work in our lives.  Why should we remember? Because our God never changes! If He was once good, He is forever good. Our circumstances may be bleak, our outlook may be downcast, but our God is still good! When we remember, we can look up past the moment and hope for tomorrow. We can remember God’s love and move into a spirit of praise... Read More

Days and Days of Monotony

We often drive through west Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Last year we took a trip that also included Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oklahoma. We did eventually get to see some mountains, but there was a whole lot of grassland and desert to cross first. But even in the mundane of desert land, cactus, mesquite, and flat land there was beauty. Tracy saw two or three coyotes. (I was sleeping!) The clouds and sky were ever changing and beautiful. The farms and occasional small town broke up the days and days of monotony. Sometimes I feel that life is... Read More
