Empty Traditions

“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception,

according to the tradition of men,

according to the elementary principles of the word,

rather than according to Christ.”

Colossians 2:8

Many are doing good things. Many are following the traditions of the church.  Many have good morals.  But many of these are not saved.  The largest group of people that get involved in cults are Southern Baptist youth.  Why?  Because they know just enough truth to be dangerous.  The cult twists the truth, but because our youth does not know the whole truth they are deceived when something has a little truth in it.

Many church going people become deceived by the philosophy of this world and apathy.  “If they want to live that way, that’s their choice.  It doesn’t affect me.”  This is a big lie.  Even if you have never had an abortion or been in a gay relationship, these behaviors and attitudes affect our whole culture and the future of our children and grandchildren.  These lifestyles take captive those who are involved.  They are addictive behaviors and lead to emptiness.

Test the spirits. (1 John 4:1). If they are not of God, then they are against God.  Choose life and freedom.  Don’t be deceived by the philosophy of this world; it leads to death.
