Pray Big

|

“…for the favor bestowed on us through the prayers of many.”
2 Corinthians 1:11b

Do your prayers matter? When I think of this question, I remember a drawing that one of the boys did years ago as we were studying Moses. They drew a picture of Moses in Midian shepherding sheep on one half a page. They drew a line down the center of the page and on the other side they drew a picture of the Israelites in Egypt praying for God to save them. In Genesis 2: 23-25 we see the Israelites crying out to God because of their bondage in slavery. “So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God saw the sons of Israel, and God took notice of them. Now Moses…” And the story continues that because of the prayers of the Israelites, God called Moses to the burning bush and sent him to lead the people out of Israel.

God hears our prayers as well. He bestows favor on others because we prayed. He always hears us and answers in His time. I prayed for my mom for 37 years. A week before she died, she accepted Jesus as her Lord. I prayed for a friend from junior high through college. At age 29 he accepted the Lord and died a year later. God has answered prayers of healing for Ethan’s back and pregnancy with Garrett. He has answered my prayer of healing for my back with a NO, but His grace and kindness continue to preserve me in the midst. When I think I can’t go another pain-filled day, Jesus is there with me and by His grace I can!

What are you praying for? Are you praying for others? Are your prayers bigger than this world’s answers? Are they God-sized? Cry out to Him. He hears your prayers, and He cares for you.
