Two Questions

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short
That it cannot save;
Nor is His ear so dull
That it cannot hear.

But your iniquities have made a separation
Between you and your God,
And you sins have hidden His face from you
so that He does not hear.”
Isaiah 59:1-2

This verse struck me this morning because there have been many times where I wondered where God was in the midst of a situation. When I was clinically depressed for years, where was God? He was right there with me. He had never moved – I had! He is a rock. He is firm and unmoving. If I can’t find Him it is because I am not looking in the right place.

Whenever God feels far away, we must ask ourselves two questions. Is there sin in the camp? Maybe I need to confess and make things right with God. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any sin in your life and then repent.
If the answer to that first question is no, then ask the question “Could God be using this situation to make me grow closer to Him and realize my deeper need for Him?” He, like a good father, will pull His hands away for a moment to see if you are ready to stand on your own or ride that bike without support, but His hands are always right there to catch you and pick you up if you fall.

Call out to Him and He will answer you. Trust His answer to be best in your life even if you don’t like His answer. We may never know what all He protected us from! Seek and trust for He is good.
