Hope Through the Counsel of God

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will counsel you with My eye upon you.”
Psalms 32:8

No matter your situation, there is hope! There is hope because God promises to counsel us and guide us. Where does this counsel come from? First, it comes from God’s word. By regularly having a time of reading and study of the Scriptures, God can lead to the right answer in His time. By memorizing the Scriptures, He can bring to mind verses that are pertinent to your situation.

Secondly, He guides us through the counsel of others. It may be a sermon, a song, a story, or Godly advice. This is why it is so important to be in Christian fellowship with other believers who are also seeking God.

Thirdly, wisdom from God comes through prayer and our thoughts. When our minds are set on God, we are spending time in prayer, then sometimes God just brings a thought, a solution, a dream, a picture, a word to our minds and it is the counsel that we seek.

We have a big God. He is able to get our attention and lead us if we are looking to Him. The more that we spend time with God, the louder we can hear His voice and the easier it is to discern His counsel. Are you having a regular time with God each day? Are you setting aside time for longer retreats with Him? Do you seek and ask Him for direction? It takes time, but so does every worthwhile pursuit. May you seek your God’s counsel this day and find His guidance and peace.
